TREND WATCH 2012:
What's hot for 2012? Check out our list of up and coming design
trends that you can incorporate in your space for a chic & quick update...
1. Pantone Color of the
Year-
"Tangerine Dream" is a hot orange with a hint if pink. We've got you covered
in artworks that easily inject this trendy hue into any room.
Pieces by Shelley Tate Garner, Elizabeth Padgett, and Mike Mahler are our top
picks!

2. Patterned & Texture Wood-
The look so rich woods with interesting textures and inlaid patterns are
hot, hot, hot!
Wood bowls by Jerry Tate and wood-textured ceramics from Robert
Ostman are just the ticket accent with
this trend.
Wood panel paintings and
interesting wood picture frames are other great options. Come by to see
more!
3. Local-
Buying local isn't just a trend, it is a great thing to do for your
community. The majority of Artplace's
artworks are made with a 60 mile radius of Denison. Many are produced on-site at
the studio in the back of the gallery. Support your local artists!
4. Vintage & Storied-
Vintage looks in wood, metal, and theme are very fashion forward for 2012.
Look for pieces that are a mix of rustic & modern or natural materials & sleek
design. Don't forget to tell your "story" with the pieces you incorporate. Make
your look "collected" & personal.
Cool Framing Idea- "The Mighty Mini"

Just because its small doesn't mean it lacks impact... Tiny art can be
very
cool when used as a grouping of similarly framed pieces. Use a frame to
create continuity between dissimilar items, or to create a dominant recurring
element and visual rhythm in the presentation of similar items. Mini's are
perfect
for odd spaces, tall spaces, or long spaces. Try them grouped in a square or
rectangle, in a long thin line, or in an irregularly hung or collage-type
arrangement.
What's hot in new frame styles?
Summer is sleek with fabulous high-intensity color. Want to inject so heat? How
about a hot red or orange... Or go to the depths of the cool ocean with one of
this season's best shades of blue, turquoise, or purple. Guaranteed to be fun
but hold an edge of sophistication. Here are some of our newest color and
texture choices...

Vermont by Larson-Juhl is our new best seller! The slightly rustic and textured
finish
sits atop a family of cool contemporary shapes. The perfect balance of old and
new...
If you like these, be sure to also check out the Bandana family of mouldings!

Trend Watch & Framing Solutions -
Hardwood Floors

Framing Solution = Because a wood floor is a large surface in a room,
rather than choosing a wood frame that matches the floor, consider a contrasting
finish. As you can see in the photo above, the gold frame shown helps the art
stand out so it becomes a nice focal point in the space.
High Ceilings

Framing Solution = In rooms with high ceilings there are several ways you can
relate framing to your space. You can start with vertical pieces of art. If you
have pairs or sets, hang them up the wall versus across it. If the art is
something you can mat, your mat borders can be bottom-weighted or elongated to
fill more vertical space.
